Directed by Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 features Tamil superstar Rajinikanth reprising his iconic role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, a quiet and reserved man who lives behind the identity of an ordinary car driver.
Speaking about the response to the film, Rajinikanth’s performance and its upcoming OTT release, Dilipkumar said the audience's response to Jailer had been extraordinary and that the love shown for Muthuvel Pandian had been one of the most rewarding aspects of the journey.
"With Jailer 2, we wanted to build on that special connection while taking the story, action, scale, and emotional stakes to an entirely new level," he said.
He further highlighted Rajinikanth's return as Muthuvel Pandian, the ensemble cast and Anirudh's music, describing these elements as making the latest chapter particularly exciting.
"Having Rajinikanth sir reprise his iconic role as Muthuvel Pandian, alongside such a formidable ensemble cast, with Anirudh’s music adding its own distinctive energy, made this chapter particularly exciting for us," Dilipkumar said.
Following the film's theatrical response, the director said the team was delighted to bring Jailer 2 to Prime Video, where it will join the first instalment, Jailer, making both chapters of Muthuvel Pandian's story available to audiences in India and across the world.
The action film features an ensemble cast comprising SJ Suryah, Shivarajkumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, Ramyakrishnan, Namo Narayana and Yogi Babu. Mohanlal, Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Sethupathi also make special appearances.
Starting November 12, Jailer 2 will be available to stream on Prime Video in India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. The film will be accessible in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. Its digital release will also bring both instalments of the Muthuvel Pandian story together on the platform.
